Saudi Arabia donates 5 million to the poor of Gaza

Continuing restrictions led to the adoption of 800 thousand people on food programs

Saudi Arabia provided a donation of five million dollars in order to secure basic food needs for the poorest of the poor Palestinian refugees in Gaza through the agency of the United Nations Relief and Works for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
The Saudi Committee as an important partner of UNRWA and its food, especially in Gaza, and in the past, the Saudi Committee for UNRWA aid worth $ 1.6 million, which went 835.000 dollars to provide food aid to impoverished refugee families in Gaza.
The agreement was signed in this regard on Tuesday between Filippo Grandi, UNRWA Commissioner-General and Executive Director of Mubarak al-Bakr of the Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian people and on the sidelines of meetings of the Advisory Commission of UNRWA held at the Dead Sea, Jordan.
This helps to donate for needy families that are in dire need of food assistance and registered under the Social Safety Net Programme of UNRWA, which provides the program for the families of poor refugee food assistance, including a basket of commodities such as flour, rice, oil, sugar and milk to help them meet their basic food and to overcome the problem of poverty.
Said Filippo Grandi, UNRWA Commissioner-General, during the signing ceremony: "The continuing restrictions on movement in the Gaza Strip led to the adoption of the 800,000 people on our food. As long as this situation continues, the UNRWA will remain obliged to work hard searching for a generous voluntary contributions such as donation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ".
The campaign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for the Relief of the Palestinian people in Gaza, a humanitarian initiative which was launched in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2009.
